Incorporation and History
Heliquip was incorporated in the Republic of South Africa on the 5th April 1967 as Heliquip (Proprietary) Limited, as a helicopter consultancy and helicopter sales company.

Initially it operated one Hughes 269B helicopter under the operating licenses of Transair (Pty.) Ltd. During 1972 it negotiated the establishment of the heliport at Rand Airport on a vacant island behind the terminal building and in the same year signed agreements with OFEMA in Paris to represent the French helicopter manufacturer, SNIAS which became the Aerospatiale Helicopter Division and today Eurocopter. Heliquip then built its first hangar on the heliport.

In August 1973 it sold its first new helicopter, an SA341G Gazelle to Iscor and offered the first helicopter operations management agreement to this client.

In November 1975 it obtained its own operating licenses and certificates when it acquired an Alouette III helicopter to operate on charter and aerial work operations throughout Africa.

In 1982 the operations division was moved to Grand Central Airport at Midrand due to congestion at the Rand Airport Heliport and in 1993 the company consolidated all its activities at Grand Central and sold the Rand Airport facilities.

Nature of Business
Heliquip is a full service helicopter company offering initial consultancy into the acquisition of helicopters for the corporate owner, to the management, maintenance and support, and operation of the helicopter for the client.

With this philosophy every effort is made to ensure that the working environment is conducive to the development of an entrepreneurial spirit within the context of the team, with safety and professionalism as the two important common goals.

Heliquip's reputation in helicopter sales, dedicated in its first 25 years, to Aerospatiale/Eurocopter, and its commitment to continued after-sales support of what it sells, is unrivalled in the industry.

This commitment has demanded of it the establishment of a fully equipped maintenance organisation able to comply with the exacting standards required by the manufacturers, and local and international aviation authorities.

To this end Heliquip has ploughed its profits back into the company to provide the correct and necessary tools for each person to be able to efficiently carry out his task.

These aircraft are not all owned by Heliquip but operated on management contracts with each owner.

International companies around the World seek out the services of Heliquip Flight Operation's division. It has been regularly safety audited by international organisations particularly in the Airborne Geophysical field and has operated in many parts of sub equatorial Africa.

Heliquip has been granted International fixed wing licenses and Operating Certificates covering N1, N4 and G7 types of service and A2, A3 categories of aircraft. The Domestic Licences cover N1 and N2 types of service with A2,A3,A4,H1 and H2 categories of Aircraft.
